Remember, Chartered Physiotherapists are expert Body Mechanics; specifically trained to treat most problems associated with joints, muscles and associated tissues.
At your first visit, the physiotherapist will assess your condition and implement a course of treatment suited to your particular requirements. An assessment typically takes 45 minutes, while follow up appointments are 30 minutes.
The assessment is a detailed account of your problem. Initially you will be asked a number of questions about your condition for example, where, when and how it occurred. It is very helpful to us if you have noted what type of pain you experience and what sort of activities make your pain better or worse.
You will then be examined physically. This necessitates the removal of appropriate clothing, so you may prefer to bring shorts to wear. You will be asked to demonstrate the movement available. Following this the Physiotherapist will conduct some tests, similar to those your doctor or consultant may use. These tests allow us to diagnose whether ligaments, muscles, joints and nerves are functioning correctly.
Once the Physiotherapist has a good understanding of your problem, treatment will be prescribed and administered. This may include:
Electrotherapy
Soft tissue
release & Muscle balance exercise
